The Chiselers Will Come

One of the toughest things in life is to face who and what we have become. It is so much easier to point at, and blame other people, even when we know deep down that that does not take the pain, shame and guilt away. I have learnt that there is genuine mental, emotional and spiritual liberty, if I just confess to myself that I am the problem, or that I have a problem to solve and that it matters how I solve it. How I solve it will determine the outcome. Therefore how can I solve it so that the outcome is favorable to others and to me? Typically, we humans like to solve the problem in a selfish way, the way that it will benefit just us, and not others involved. It’s our quick survival instinct. But we should grow bigger and better than that. Others matter.

Usually the problem is a flaw in our character and our outlook on life, our judgement and perception, not reality, of other people. We all at some point carry unhealthy mindsets and opinions that have to be chiseled out of us. We hate the chiselers because they show us the truth about who we are, who we truly have become, but who we could transform into, a better person. It is extremely difficult to become the better person. It takes me introversion, self-permitting slow agonizing self-reflection of what is true and what is not. The deeper I search within me, the better I learn the lesson, the more broken I become, the more ego I lose, the freer I become. If I can be silent for one quick moment and not say the first thing that comes to my mind, if I can just hold back and control myself, walk away and ask myself the selfless questions, how should I respond, should I respond at all, how could I have prevented this, how can I handle it better, should I just let it go, or should I confront it, and if I do, how should I go about doing that so that it does not escalate, even if it means that it would be at my own expense?

The chiselers of life will come. Sometimes they trickle in, sometimes they are a storm, a rushing river, a massive wave. Some will be clear and apparent, while others will blindside us, pull the rug from under us and knock us down to our knees. Some will cause us to weep deep pouring tears, some will cause us to laugh like mad men in pain and frustration, and some will make us scream silently in agony, with no words to describe the torment within.

None of us can avoid or prevent the chiselers from entering our lives, but all of us can choose how we handle them. We can drown in them, we can develop unhealthy coping mechanisms, or we can handle them step by step, layer by layer, and emerge as beautiful beings, who have allowed adversity to bring out the best in them.

The chiselers will come at different stages of our lives, whether or not we are ready or prepared for them, and are unable to receive or accept them. Their timing is always terrible, and they do not seem to care about their effect on our lives. We have the power to decide and choose how we handle them, and who they transform us into. We can determine to come out beautiful in the end, or angry, bitter, snide, arrogant, insecure, cynical and manipulative, blaming others and never taking the reins of your life to turn things around for the better.

When chiselers come my way, I have learnt to turn to God, my creator, for grace, wisdom, courage, patience and humility. After all, He knows me better than I know myself. You cannot take a BMW to be fixed by Toyota, or vice versa, so take me to God, any day, any time, with whatever it is, He will fix me, set me straight, and put me on the right path. It is not easy when my carnal nature rises up in a situation and I have to tame her down and ask the Holy Spirit to give me strength to hold it together and not respond the way that I would truly like to. It takes power from within to keep silent when I want to give a piece of my mind. It takes courage to walk away when I want to confront. It takes humility to realize and admit that a particular chiseler has revealed to me that there are areas of my character that I still need to work on. It takes wisdom to know what to say, when to say it and how to say it. It takes deep understanding and mercy to see where another person is coming from and what might be causing their behavior. These qualities do not come naturally to us. They are developed and nurtured with deliberation.

The chiselers will come. God help us make the right decisions so that we can come out the better and not the worst when they chisel us. They are here for our good, not for our demise. They bring the lessons we need to learn. They come to remove the ugliness within us, and create kindness, patience, wisdom and understanding, qualities that bring us and fill us with peace, joy, love and strength and quiet confidence

The chiselers will come. It is better to yield to them and ask the question why are they here, than to resist. Resistance only makes it worse.

Yield to your chiselers, ask the honest questions, embrace the true answers and become free indeed.

A Hope and a Future

questions-2245264__340

We have tried so many different ways to be successful, to find peace, courage, love and joy. They have failed us in many ways than one. Let’s take a deep breath from our who, when, where, how, why and what, and try God’s angle shall we?

Do you need direction?

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. – Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. Theses are the things I do, and I do not forsake them. – Isaiah 42:16 (ESV)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Are you afraid of the past, the present and the future?

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. – Isaiah 41-10 (NLT)

Don’t be afraid, for the Lord will go before you and will be with you; he will not fail nor forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:8 (TLB)

Don’t know who to turn to?

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. – Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)

Lord, lead me as you promised me you would; otherwise my enemies will conquer me. Tell me clearly what to do, which way to turn. – Psalm 5:8 (TLB)

Do you feel like giving up?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV)

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. – Matthew 7:7 Berean Study Bible

What are you lacking?

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:19 (NLT)

And that dear friend, is the tangible truth.

Take Good Care of Yourself

We are all capable of performing some deep soul searching in order to make the right choices, and become better and wiser at making those choices. We can make wiser choices for our hearts, our souls, our spirits, and our minds. We can make wiser choices about how we treat others because our treatment of them ultimately affects our lives. There is a time to be young and foolish, as the saying goes, but there  is a time for maturity, where our lenses in life, and of life, should change, and change for the better, after we would learned from our past mistakes, things we have done and things that have been done to us. Endeavor to take better care of yourself, strive to take good care of yourself, determine to take beautiful care of yourself. Be careful how you live your life and how you treat others, it will determine how healthy your life will become mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.

When a situation is extremely difficult I find that to take care of myself better, I have to be careful how I react for my own sake, for my peace of mind, and that of other people’s, especially if I don’t want to go back and say I am sorry. For me, having to go back to say I am sorry, is a biting reminder to myself that I perhaps could have handled things better, differently, if I had just taken that one deep breath, paused and taken the higher ground. Easier said than done, it can be so very difficult to take that higher ground. Sometimes I want to pretend it doesn’t exist and I want to give in to my carnal nature and fight back!  However, I find that if I take that one deep breath, walk away for a minute, a day, a week (dependent upon how deep the cut and how emotional I feel), I will find the strength, the peace and the wisdom to handle the situation or person more appropriately.

A positive, mature, and constructive response comes with a lot of practice and an attitude that is always less on the defensive. That’s why when we are angry, weak, confused and hurting, we should take better care of ourselves by not talking to just anyone, but selectively talk to a very few, who we know will keep our minds and spirits healthy by being straight shooters with us, and not encourage us to hold self-obsessed, bitter and angry pity parties. No matter what our upset, they are able to lovingly but firmly give us an objective and healthy perspective, one that helps us to go back and self-reflect, figure out how or where we went wrong, and what we could have done better. A lot of times it hurts, but if we want to take better care of ourselves, if we want to be a better individuals, we have to be careful and selective of who we allow to whisper into our souls, our hearts, our minds and our spirits, because we should only want the truth, which indeed does liberate us.

The more we assist ourselves in becoming better individuals, the deeper we are able to love ourselves, the better we are able to treat others, the more we are reminded to remain peaceful and use our power in a gentle but confident manner. We have the right and the capacity to be our best selves, even with all our imperfections, even when handling and dealing with other people’s imperfections. It brings you peace of mind, better self-acceptance and better self-love, not arrogance and pride, just gentle love and humility for yourself and towards others.

We can develop the ability to achieve quiet inner confidence and a power that propels us to serve and uplift, support and sustain others, bear up and bring solace to others. In turn, as we do so, we experience deeper peace, acquire greater strength, become filled with in depth wisdom, and the courage to love not only ourselves more and more, but others as well. It is not about becoming a people pleaser, it’s about becoming our better selves and taking better care of him or her. And as we do so, we become more careful about how we treat others and in turn it creates, develops and builds a healthier self-awareness, self-love and self-worth state of being.

Take good care of yourself!

Find Your Divine Grip

plant-66809_1920Finding purpose and building your purpose is such a powerful thing. It rescues and delivers one from cowardliness, fear, dishonesty, insecurity, labels, insignificance, throwing in the towel and giving up. It lifts one up to bravery, boldness, self-confidence, being self-assured, knowing and understanding who one is, pushing and taking on challenges once thought impossible. Finding purpose and building purpose keeps one’s grip intact when shaken by life, or torn apart by life’s experiences, be it work, family, friendships, acquaintances or strangers.

The more I pursue my purpose and blueprint in God, the more beautiful I feel, the more sure of life I am, the more I go for, and face, challenges, instead of waiting for them to come to me and catch me off guard. And now, even if they do catch me off guard, I find that because of purpose, I can steady myself, quicker, stronger and better, and empowered for the next time a challenge blindsides me. These days I bounce back quicker when I am winded, because as I pursue purpose and determinedly build it, my grip has been developed, built and secured from deep within, in my spirit. My soul my heart and my mind, tend to have to readjust and hurt some, depending on what’s going on, but my spirit, where divinity lies, where the core of my being is in God, remains unbeaten, always willing to pursue, conquer and overcome whatever problem presents itself in my life. In other words I feel the pain, but I KNOW that there is a way out, and the challenge will only last but for a time; it will pass. The question is, while it’s in existence and in my realm, what do I chose to do with it.

I dig into divine, God-given purpose. It gives me strength; it gives me wisdom and leads me when I am blind! It raises me when I am fallen. It makes me dry my tears and believe that things can only get better from here; there is light, no matter what the current darkness is.

How I ache for the world to have this understanding, that divine purpose will guide us, redeem us and deliver us. It will settle us in the right place, at the right time and with the right people, because it is built by divinity, by the all-knowing God.

Connect your spirit to God, so that you can discover your divine purpose and in discovering that, you develop your divine grip, and it will stay you and anchor you, preparing you and building you for what is ahead, no matter what it is. A lot is coming our way. Connect with and develop your divine grip, it’s in your spirit. Understand this and soar!

Wisdom is supreme–so acquire wisdom, and whatever you acquire, acquire understanding! –Proverbs 4:7 (Net Bible)

The Finisher

bible-216962__180

Many times we begin a good thing, but:

  • We do not have the power to finish
  • We do not have the courage to finish
  • We do not have the self-confidence to finish
  • We do not have strength to finish
  • We do not have the self-worth to finish
  • We do not have the self-dignity to finish

Our beauty within is dulled. Our wisdom has lost its way. Our strength has lost its victory. Our power has lost its potency. We realize that Human Science, Intellect and Philosophy, can only go so far. We need more. More than what we have been taught, more than what society, family and schools have taught us. And more than the relationships we are in.

We desperately need the Finisher. The One Who:

  • Cleanses from deep within, washes and wipes clean our spirit, souls, minds and hearts
  • Is ever present and never changing
  • Opens the door to fulfilling purpose and nothing, no one can stop Him
  • Begins a good work and ensures that He sees it through to the very end
  • Loves us unconditionally, no matter how deep the stain, or how bad the sin
  • Is ever present, all-knowing, always uplifting, always healing us
  • Constantly protects, delivers and redeems us

The Finisher makes a way when the road appears hopeless and there seems to be no path to continue, or no way out. How lost are we? How far gone are we? How tired are we? Do we need strength to start the journey of our purpose? Are we mid-way and feel too exhausted and fatigued, like there is no light at the end of the tunnel? Are we swimming upwards but we feel like we are drowning downwards? Are we running hard and it appears as though we have nothing left to reach the finish line? Have we given, and given, and given, and feel emptied out? Have we borne the price and weight of our purpose and now we feel like it’s too heavy?

Bent over, how can we possibly continue? Out of breath, how can we possibly push on? Heavy, how can we possibly carry on? We all need divine assistance to fulfill our purpose, and to accomplish why we are here. Human strength, wisdom, science and intellect alone cannot do it. Not if we want to finish the divine way that we should.

Let’s turn to the Finisher. It is time to turn to the Finisher who will restore us, restore our path, restore our journey, restore our purpose, and renew our strength, our courage, our joy, our peace and our wisdom. God knows, in this day and age, with all the evil, hurt, agony and pain in our world, we need the Finisher, to constantly replenish and fill us.

But you, LORD, are a shield that protects me; you are my glory and the one who restores me. – Psalm 3:3 (NET Bible)

Limited Humanity Unlimited Divinity

bible-450298_1280

Who, or what do you look up to for solace? Who, or what gives you genuine and lasting healing balm for your soul, mind, and spirit? For me it is God, who I firmly believe created us and inspired the writing of the Holy Bible. He knows us and loves us beyond our deepest imagination. He gives us breath to breathe. Whether or not we acknowledge Him, truth of the matter is, He created us, and He is always there for us. We have created all the technology, all the science, but He is still God. We have great intellect, amazing philosophies and mind blowing science, but He is still God! He has our blueprint in the palm of His hand, and He is our Source, our Origin. That is why we are so unique, with such power and great abilities!  But along the way we have dangerously turned away from Him and we have looked up to man and his creations. We have left true unlimited divinity behind and we are following our limited selves, limited science, limited technology. No matter how great these things are, no matter how much they have assisted us, we still need Him, and at the end of the day, like it or not, the hour will come when we will cry out for Him. Hopefully by then it’s not too late.

My life has not been perfect and painless, but He has faithfully carried and seen me through my turbulence, and so I share with you today, that no matter what, there is true healing, true power, true deliverance, true peace, and true love, available to you. I am not speaking out of someone else’s experience, or because someone preached to me, I am telling you what I tangibly know and have experienced. I love humanity and I want us to know the truth!

With all my imperfection, mistakes, maltreatment, the violation and the abuse at the hands of others, He influences me to want to love, to want to be kind, to be understanding and giving, even when it is very painful and extremely challenging to do so. Where and who do you turn to for the supernatural? Who and what do you draw peace and strength from? God is  a real spiritual source that you can delight in, that will always remain as your firm foundation when everything around you is falling apart.  He will keep you steady and still when everything around you is spinning out of control. What or who will keep you intact when all hell breaks loose? Nine out of ten chances you will manage your emotions and channel your choices and decisions from whatever or whoever directs you spiritually. Try God.

When people ask me how I manage to stay afloat, I give Him credit. He is my strength, my peace, my joy. In Him is the place where my rawest pain turns into honey, where rejection by others turns into absolute self-acceptance, where hate is molded into unconditional love, where indecision is turned into wisdom, where sorrow is turned into laughter and sadness into joy. In Him my inner struggles cease and I find Quiet Power, Peaceful Confidence. Without Him and His Holy Spirit, it would be impossible for me to take a deep breath as deeply as I do now, and tell you about the love, peace and healing available to all of us. Regardless of who you are or what you have become, you CAN turn to Him. Try God, our solace, where you will find unlimited and endless divinity instead of our limited short-lived humanity.

Need some solace, some wisdom, direction, healing and peace? Try the unlimited God!

He Who Washes My Soul

So here we are Lord, just you and I. We have come such a very long way, where you have always been faithful, but where I have not. Yet you love me so endlessly it takes my breath away. How I wish others would open up their hearts, souls, minds and spirits up to you so that they too can experience the divine worth and value you place on us, every single second. Every breath I take, you are there, my source, my strength, my wisdom, my courage and my power.

Not that you had to, you really could have ignored me, left me to rot, lost and blind. I mean, why should you care? After all I do not follow all your precepts all the time. Why you bother with me I cannot fathom. It is too great this love you have for me, and I will never be able to repay. Even though you did not have to, you picked me up and embraced all of me.

I smile, wistfully, for I know the day will never come, when I will have the answers. You are too powerful to comprehend, yet so humble in love. There is no question that you are the true living God. It is no wonder that you are the King of kings, the all-powerful and the all-knowing God. No one, nothing, can hold a candle to you. You are, always will be, my darling. With my undeserving lips I will kiss you every day with worship, appreciation and thanksgiving. I am not ashamed of you. I love you! My mouth will boast and tell of You. I praise You! I always long for Your presence and Your voice. I yearn to be in that place where my heart, my soul, my mind and spirit are totally surrendered to You. A place in the depths of my being, where no one else, and nothing else, can reach, only You.

You have blessed me beyond my imagination. You have brought me through treacherous paths, slippery slopes, fear, abuse, violation, refreshed and revived me, and given me the power to stand tall. You give of Yourself endlessly; You love me relentlessly, never giving up on me, always reminding me of my worth.

I wish millions would accept and experience your unending love. Many think that you are all about control. But you are not, are you? You are about restoration, healing, peace, joy, wisdom and strength. You are all about the fullness of life that we so desperately seek, but yet we will not turn to you. Our pain, our trauma, our emptiness, fears, insecurities, agony and demons cannot withstand your power; they cannot overpower your divinity.  Yet we do not lay them down at your feet, the truest place to be whole again.  At your feet, in your arms, is the true place to shake off the dust of shame, guilt, mistakes and traumas of the past. It is the place to make the brave choice to clean oneself up and grow beautifully.

Why do we tap into philosophy, science, intellect, nature, clairvoyance and astrology, but not into you, when you are the one who has created all things? What sense does it make for us to not come back to you, our source? Why do we chase and hold on to temporary fixes when it is you who gives everlasting peace and joy? We yearn and thirst for you, we know it, we feel it, yet we reject you.

Why do we choose darkness when you have made light available to us? Why do we continue in our torment and confusion, when you have given us peace and wisdom? Why do we hang on to our insecurities and fears when you have given us power? Why are we encumbered with sickness, body, mind, spirit and soul when you have given us healing? Why are we so poor, when you have given us abundance of life? What is it about us that makes us reject you? Why are we so defiant about accepting you when you are the answer to our sinking ships?

As for me, with my sins, my imperfections and my humanity, I will continue to look up to you, He who washes my soul, cleanses my mind, heals my heart and strengthens my spirit, He who gives me wisdom for my foolishness, and brings understanding in my confusion.

I live and I breathe because of you, my King.

What Will Your Focus Be?

Many have asked me who and what I believe in. Here is my response. Simply put, I believe in God, in Jesus and in the Holy Spirit. Not because someone told me to, I am too strong-willed for  that, but because of my own tangible experience. My beliefs make some uncomfortable and standoffish. But, even if I decided to walk away from God, I cannot deny the truth that He is real, not when I have actually experienced His power, His love, His peace, His grace, His healing and His mercy.

I used to mock those who believed in Him, but have had to eat my words after I discovered that the joke was on me! You must experience Him to know and believe, and if you have not, and have chosen not to have the experience, how will you know what is true and what is not?

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life–1 John 1:1 (NASB)

Some of us have never tried God, so we genuinely do not know what He is capable of. Some of us blatantly choose to not try Him at all. But some of us have tried Him, and tasted His love, but are too afraid to talk about it. We might have gotten too bogged down by life’s challenges, and have forgotten what He is capable of. Some of us may feel too discouraged to continue following Him and having faith in Him, because we find it too difficult to keep waiting for God to unveil and fulfill His plans for us. We feel trapped by persecution and the rejection from our loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Some of us feel disappointed by our churches or pastors, and have turned away from God, but what crime did God commit? Don’t forget that pastors, preachers, teachers, worship leaders, and evangelists are flawed human beings, just like we are. I am not making any excuses for them, but they have their own personal struggles, weaknesses and demons to wrestle too, so do not use them as your yardstick, but use Jesus Christ instead.

This is why we should look up to Him, the Author and the Finisher of our faith. He should be our yardstick, not people. While we are busy using the mistakes, imperfections, and weaknesses of other humans as reasons to not accept Him, God’s grace does not dissipate. It is still at work, because what He starts, He will finish. We can continue pointing fingers at each other and condemning each other, or we can focus on His powerful, life-giving, tender, merciful, loyal, and faithful grace. What do we choose today? Criticizing and judging others, focusing on their wrongdoings, or tapping into His grace that delivers, brings victory, and breathes life into dead situations? I have yet to witness how condemning, judging and blaming another person has ever solved anyone’s problems.

If we would focus on divine purpose and divine will, we would be focused on becoming better people and helping others, rather than condemning them and giving up on them, tearing them down, judging them, and casting them aside. We can focus on doing our own research to find out whether or not this God of the Bible is real and true, or we can decide to follow our intellect, free will, theories and philosophies and decide and insist that He is not real. In  finding your own answers, make sure that you know beyond a shadow of doubt that God does not exist, or that He indeed does exist.

As for me, with all my imperfections and quirks, I will not refrain from talking about this God. I will not be ashamed of Him, and I refuse to shut up about Him. I will not debate about Him, but I will have the conversation. I will not try and persuade a mind made up to argue about His existence, but I will have the conversation. After the conversation about this unpopular and unwanted God, this untapped, uncommon power, it is entirely up to you to seek the truth.

Will you focus on condemning others or will you find your own tangible experience? You decide.

If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. ~ Jeremiah 29:13

I have yet to witness how condemning and judging another person has ever solved anyone’s problems.

Will you focus on condemning others or will you find your tangible experience?

You decide!
